Environmental Studies For Undergraduate Courses
The importance of environmental science and environmental studies cannot be
disputed. The need for sustainable development is a key to the future of mankind.
Continuing problems of pollution, loss of forget, solid waste disposal, degradation of
environment, issues like economic productivity and national security, Global warming,
the depletion of ozone layer and loss of biodiversity have made everyone aware of
environmental issues. The United Nations Coference on Environment and Development
Environmental Education and Communication (EE&C) for Behavior Change
USAID/Bolivia contracted GreenCOM, the Environmental Education and Communication
(EE&C) Project, to conduct a participatory assessment of EE&C needs and opportunities,
develop an overarching EE&C conceptual framework and set of EE&C recommendations and
implementation options, and explore how EE&C could be used as a mechanism to help bridge
and develop stronger collaboration within USAID/Bolivia and between USAID/Bolivia and its
partners.
A Comprehensive approach to Needs Assessment, Project Planning and Implementation, and Evaluation
This manual is intended to assist NOAA professionals as they design and implement
education projects.
Much of “Part II: Project Planning and Implementation” is based on the Project Design
and Evaluation course offered by the NOAA Coastal Services Center.
Examples and case studies integral to this manual were developed with the help of
education and outreach staff in the following NOAA line offices: National Weather
Service (NWS), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), National Ocean Service (NOS)

The most widely used definition and
concept of environmental education
(EE) was identified at the first intergovernment
conference on EE in Tbilisi,
Georgia in 1977. This concept was stated as
follows:

The North American Association
for Environmental Education
The North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) is a network of
professionals, students, and volunteers working in the field of environmental education
throughout North America and in over 55 countries around the world.
NAAEE combines the perspectives of the environmental and educational communities, taking
a cooperative, non-confrontational, scientifically balanced approach to promoting life-long
learning about environmental issues.

History of Wildlife Management in B.C.
Prior to the European settlement of North America, wildlife
populations were abundant and diverse, and supported the many
needs of the First Nations peoples. The Aboriginal peoples managed
the resource through cultural controls and by using fire to modify
habitat, which improved game abundance and opened up hunting
grounds.
European explorers of western North America wrote extensively
about the plentiful game that was present. They and European
